The weeks had passed since Callion had felt the hard training vestiges on King Kai’s Planet, but he could at last feel the reward that was the effort pumping throughout his body. He had resumed his training diligently with King Kai, working around the clock and spend his days maintaining a relentless training course around the King Kai’s planet sphere of influence in the vastness of Otherworld space; it was a dauntless workout meant for those deemed worthy of finally learning the sacred art of the Kaio-Ken. Every day, the Saiyan Monk rose from his slumber and to be welcomed to a sky that glistened in the starlight amidst the endless space. Every day, he worked hard alongside Gregory and Bubbles who made sure to give Callion a real workout plan until his soul was exhausted from either trying to bonk them on the head, capture the two, or even both at the same time. And every day, he plotted his next move to get even stronger, so that when he inevitably returned to the planet, he’d become much more powerful than he ever was before. There was one unfortunate roadblock in each plan he could come up with, however – he would need to eventually have a little chat with King Kai about it.
Demanding to know information about the happenings on Earth was an art that Callion was entirely unfamiliar with. His whole life, he had been surprisingly Apathetic to everything and everyone, as it was custom to the teachings of Planet Bhupal, always being told that sometimes the very whims of the universe move in their own way, and it’s not for him to decide what was to happen if people were to live or die. However, the winds of fate have played their part in changing Callion in a way, transforming him into someone that cared for others, and such a reasoning all came from the planet Earth. It was unclear to Callion how he could obtain the strength he needed to figure out what to do next. Even then, he was unsure if he can even leave Otherworld at all since, he died at the hands of Liari and still remains unaware of the Dragonballs and the ability to wish someone back to life. After he completed his rounds one fateful night, the Saiyan Monk headed towards to King Kai’s humble abode, pathing instead towards in order to meet with King Kai himself.
Even for a training course, the exercise was intense on the Saiyans body. It had an all-around test for Callion’s body from head to toe in every sense of the word, even his spirit and ki itself felt as though it was getting a workout of a lifetime, and yet he could feel something stirring within him – a red fire burning inside of him. There wasn’t even a moment of respite – at least for a while before the body gave way, forcing the training Saiyan to take the time to relax and reflect on how much he was able to grow and become stronger. Gregory and Bubbles were accustomed to the harsh training that they were being exposed to which helped them just as much as Callion was getting out of the workout, but the two have seemed to suffer greatly at the hands of the saiyan’s rather relentless training. Callion grinned wickedly at the tired expression of Gregory and bubbles as he made his way to them in the hopes to continue training, unable to contain his desire in the rush to become even stronger at a level that he wanted to be more than ready to handle any situation that was thrown in his way. Two duo sighed back at such a grin, only to be saved at the nick of time by King Kai summoning Callion to his home.
He entered the humble abode once King Kai had called for his student, almost ripping the door down by mistake from its brittle hinges and letting out a significant portion of the fast air in the process. The Kai had sighed face palming at the Saiyan’s incredible strength, largely due to the intense gravity that Callion had now adapted over the span of three weeks. As such, his interactions with the small planet around became a mixture of an absolute mess, but also one who at least tried to be careful. It was a respectful meeting between the two, albiet in a more serious look about the two, for there was clearly some form of trying to figure out who was going to ask the question in regards to the planet first. The two didn’t know who was going to speak up first in regards to the matter, but King Kai decided he could easily take the opportunity and be the first one to speak spoke with him now. Without giving them even a twitch in reply, the two decided to engage in open dialogue.
“So Callion, I can see you’re becoming a lot stronger than even I possibly anticipated, provided of course you’ll at least repair my door again. Hehehehehehe. Still, I think it’s finally time to truly teach you the power of the Kaio-Ken.” King Kai replied, slowly getting up from his comfortable chair, and placed down a book of Ancient Universal knowledge that was Godly Politics. “You think so King Kai? I’m ready to finally learn the technique?” Callion asked, raising his eyebrow at some personal doubts in his own right, looking at his hands for a moment before fully looking up to his master.
With a snort, King Kai offered a nod of his head from the question that was asked from his student who truly wanted to know if he was actually succeeding in his task in becoming powerful in his own right, an opportunity that was surely prepared to be exploited to the fullest delight. “Oh, you better believe it. At first, I must admit that I thought that the training was going to take a lot longer than I first believed, but now, after fully reading your increasing power level, and your absolute commitment to the training, I can safely say with one-hundred percent efficiency that you’re practically already there. Now it all comes down to teaching you the technique itself.”
Turning on a dime, the Saiyan Monk locked eyes with the chuckling master. He imitated the chuckle in a similar manner, with a smile on his face that proceeded to follow a bow of respect shortly afterwards to formerly greet his master. With a look of satisfaction on his master’s face, King Kai beckoned Callion to follow him out the door and into the outdoors that was his planet. Scorches of ash and smoke slightly covered the area of the planet due to the Saiyan’s training, that was currently being mended to by both Bubbles and Gregory. Whilst the recognition that Callion had once again lost the ability to ask in regards to what was going on with Earth, he at least knew he can finally finish off the training regiment for the Kaio-Ken. The guardian of the Northern Galaxy kept his word in the hopes to push Callion to his limits, and by unlocking the Kaio-Ken Technique, he maybe one step closer to unlocking the legend. Even when the Saiyan Monk loomed above the Kai in terms of height comparison, he did acknowledge the need for King Kai’s presence directly with respect.
“So, it’s finally time to learn the technique? I’m fired up just thinking how to use it.” Callion couldn’t contain himself, the fiery look in his eyes and the clench of both hands was rather obvious to the initiated. He knew it would come to this very moment of learning one of the sacred technique King Kai had in his disposal, but it was not enough to just learn the move by itself, but he had to experience it by his own hand and keep training the technique until it becomes second nature to him – or at least, try to do so. The man clenched his fists in a mental response, silent but an attitude that King Kai was all too aware of and had the same mind. His determination to finally having the technique under the belt was something that King Kai himself wanted his student to complete, and now at long last this was the fateful day that he can put everything he learnt to the absolute test. Only then could he safely say that he mastered and learnt the Kaio-Ken.
He was ready for this in every conceivable way.
"Yes… This is the day.." Callion closed his eyes with a smile before taking on a much more serious and determined look on his face, someone with the fiery resolve to see this carried out to the end. He finally had the reason to truly go all out. ”No matter what, I will unlock the Kaio-Ken, and I will become all that more stronger than ever before.” He thought to himself as sparks of his own ki could be seen flickering and igniting on his face and clothes.
”So before we fully get you into the training of the Kaio-Ken I want to see if you can remember just what is the technique that you’ll be dealing with here.” King Kai asked Callion, placing both hands behind his back, wanting to see if the Saiyan can recollect his memory on the technique itself and the usage when applying such a move onto oneself. Callion took a moment to think for a moment, his tail flowing freely before coming to answer; “Well, if my memory serves me correctly... The Kaio-Ken is a technique that multiplies the user's ki for a "heartbeat" - thus increasing their power and speed and enabling them to inflict serious damage to opponents who are considerably stronger than them. From what I remember, when someone actives the Kaio-ken, the user gains a red and fiery aura, and in turn, their whole body and clothes acquire a reddish tint. The power of the aura also bristles the user's hair and clothes if they have any.” King Kai slowly nods several times from the answer, “And the downsides?” He asked, one that the Saiyan happily replied, “The downsides of the Kaio-ken as instructed by you is that it takes a heavy toll on the user's body, making them more vulnerable to enemy attacks.”
Needless to say the answer was spot on.
Throughout the three weeks, King Kai had been in the works to prepare Callion for this moment of unlocking the secret before him. Indeed, the technique itself allows the user's base power level, strength, speed, and even sensory awareness greatly increase for an instant. With training, the length of activation can be increased. Perhaps even with training, Callion will be able to hold the form for longer periods of time, and maybe even unlock even more potential of the Kaio-Ken itself, upgrading it’s multiplier and even more – combine such power with other techniques at his full disposal.
Conversely, his current master was as serious as the Friezan tundra. King Kai’s approach involved pushing Callion up to this point, and thus he wanted to see the unlock of his ability for himself. His internal musings were unknown to his students, as were the identities of the other students in the first place. As such, Callion respected his master’s position as above him.
Callion allowed himself to enter into a fighting stance infront of King Kai. He followed up with himself powering up to his maximum potential before King Kai’s eyes. He recognised that whilst the Kaio-ken was, by rights, an already useful technique in its base form, the technique's true potential is in its ability for the power multiplier to be stacked, from doubling of the base Kaio-ken to a tripling, quadrupling and even further. The limits of the multiplier appear to be linked to the user's body toughness in addition to experience. He even had the luxury that since being dead in Otherworld, he can use the technique to his hearts content without the drawbacks of how much damage it can do to his body since he was dead in the first place. However, he was not blind to the reality that should he return to life and head back to earth, he’ll need to be careful and use the technique itself sparingly and when the enemy is unsuspected at the very least.

The first time he met King Kai, Callion was honestly rather sceptical about his newfound master compared to the old Master Roshi of the Turtle Hermit school. The bond that was managed to forge in these three weeks was indeed enough for him to realise that this was the true way in order to get much stronger than before. But the times he was training in were uncertain times, shrouded in mystery and a lacking of information by his teacher. Callion’s master was definitely hiding something from him, and it was by the Saiyan’s very honour that he did not push forward to asking – no – demanding to what was the current nature on earth. Not yet that is. His calling was called upon by the art of growing stronger and surpassing his limits, to work to the bones (in a metaphorical sense) in the absence of learning to tragedy that was happening on the planet where he died. King Kai watched with his traditional shades glistening against the radiant blue glow that was Callion’s aura that was a fiery flame that spiked ever higher, pushing more and more against the very weight of the small planet onto him.
Everything changed on the day that his friend; Liari having killed him in West City – truly, a horrible case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time in every sense of the word. A simple meet and greet with his fellow Saiyan that was also under the watchful eyes of Master Roshi, had completely transformed into a precarious brawl that very much levelled the whole city from the battle that took place, Zero had won, and in doing so, he managed to obtain a powerful tool in his quest to conquer the planet in all his glory. Countless members of the once organisation that even he had no idea were present in the city became dust and debris as the smoke cleared, allowing a new power to take over from the vacuum that was in place from once everything was over. Goodness knows what the others maybe feeling when news no doubt reached of his Death, but now he could only hope and pray that they were killing each other or worse, for it was moments like that these – believe it or not – could very well be turned into a religion and that was the LAST thing he wanted!
In the depths of Saiyan’s very sacred soul, Callion felt the power now igniting with him. In that very instant, he stopped powering up and stood still, the very fiery blue energy disappeared and collapsed into Callion. He remained quiet and obedient, the Saiyan’s eyes closed… The tension in this very moment was boiling. It was as hot as a summer day, even in the midst of winter. His eyes opened, clenching both fists. And finally, he couldn’t help but to let out a monstrous roar as he uttered the very words that would ring in the annals of History:
“KAIO-KEN!!!”
Thumping heartbeats sounded throughout the very area, as the very landscape turned into a shade of crimson red. A burst of flame followed the usage of the technique, who engulfed the Saiyan from the white bright blue into a brightly coloured shade of red, the very energy of the technique flowing within the Saiyan. The land of the small planet quivered and shook from the transformation, King Kai had fallen onto his butt from the transformation, his eyes widened and sweating from the power that was pumping out from Callion; “Holy… This is incredible! Look at him go!!”
“RRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!”
When Callion regained his awareness, he was still powering up, already having broken through his power level limits. He finally looked upon his hands, noticing the red aura that was now surrounding him, eyes wide in wonder. The Saiyan smiled back down at himself, shining black yet red tinted eyes and flowing mane of a Saiyan hair matching perfectly between the two colours like a reflection through a mirror. Callion laughed with purity the way only a child can at the sight. He did not yet know his limits of the techniques thus far, but that didn’t seem to matter at the time. He was just happy to have finally unlocked the technique with his own decisive usage. The Saiyan began to test his new power in just what his body can do now, smiling a tad smile as he dashed in a blinding speed. Having seemingly teleported behind King Kai by a shock of his power that was within his grasp. King Kai had to snap around and look at the smiling Saiyan who already somehow in someway managed to have both Gregory and Bubbles in either hand seemingly out of nowhere, and they were just as much confused and surprised as King Kai himself! As the Kaio-Ken finally began to dissipate, the guardian of the northern galaxy finally spoke.
“Well, how about that. Who would’ve thought that Red was a good look for you Callion.” His voice was filled with amazement and also comedic manner, and another emotion that Callion could understand at the time. “So, what do you think of the Kaio-Ken, huh?”
“I feel incredible, like I have never felt so alive before… Which is funny since I am dead.” The Saiyan responded with his own from of comedic banter, something that did get the old master a good chuckle in response.
“Well that’s a relief. I’m just glad this all finally worked out in the end. But now it comes down to you to make sure you fully got this power under your belt and you train to harness and focus it’s power every single day, you understand?”
Wordlessly, Callion gave a firm nod in response to what King Kai had spoke to the Saiyan after successfully managing to acquire the power of the Kaio-Ken under his disposal. Callion offered his master a thumbs up, one that was met in kind with King Kai’s own thumbs up right back at him.
“While you’re here, it will be easy for you to use the technique as many times as you want, since this realm is an abundant source of Ki energy for you to tap into. However, when you’re back alive, and I am sure you will be, you will need to keep in mind to the damage the power can do to your body. Do you understand?”
Callion nodded, letting go of Gregory and Bubbles, freeing the two of them after being seemingly captured against their will. Together, Callion, Gregory and Bubbles walked back inside the house to prepare a celebratory meal; a big meal especially since that they now have a Saiyan to look after. Though King Kai did not join them yet, as he looked up to the sky, with his antenna moving about to see what was happening on Earth with all the inhabitants and strong players involved in the grand scheme of things. “Geeez… How am I going to break this down to him, this is not going to be good at all. Everything is all happening so fast, and yet these are his friends trying to harm one another… If only I-“
That was when Callion poked his head out from the door, holding in his hand a jelly filled onigiri. “Hey King Kai! Come on! We’re getting the food ready. By the way, do you want this jelly filled donut or not?” The Saiyan asked, which caused a clench of King Kai’s fist, as he slowly turned to look at the Saiyan angrily.
“DID YOU JUST CALL A JELLY ONIGRI A DONUT!?!”
Such a reaction caused the Saiyan to yelp in surprise from the sudden anger of his teacher, and what happened next was a motion of anger and comedy with King Kai charging into his home and all manner of funny antics - a master trying to bash his student on the head – Gregory and Bubbles trying their darn best to cook, and callion doing everything he possible could to get away from the terrifying and funny wrath of his teacher. All in all, the training was at last over and he was able to rest for a moment in having managed to get the power under his belt, and he can truly reap the rewards as well as the punishment for having actually called a onigiri a jelly donut. For now, Master and Student; two friends in the span of three weeks can rest for now..
For now.. Until it was time…
